How To Pay Your Bills On Time

Have you ever opened a bill then completely forgotten about it? A few weeks pass and you're just minding your own business when suddenly your brain FINALLY decides to remind you but by then you're too late.. it's overdue. Nobody likes having to pay money to simply exist, but having to pay late fees on top of that? The worst.
Here's some tips to help you pay your bills on time and avoid those nasty late fees.

Pay bills when you get them

If you're prone to opening bills then forgetting about them, try paying them as soon as you get them. That way it's fresh on your mind and there's no need to be reminded.

Set up auto pay

One of the best ways to pay your bills is by setting up automated payments. Most creditors allow you to set up a direct debit, so you can just set and forget it. Just make sure you always have enough money in your account.

Set reminders on your phone

How we ever survived without smartphones is beyond me. Another great way to remember bills is to set a reminder or alarm on your phone for the day your bill is due. When your alarm suddenly starts blaring out of nowhere with a reminder to "pay your bills", you will thank your past self because there was no way you were going to remember that.

Pay bills when you get paid

If you receive a regular paycheck, you can make a habit of paying bills when you receive your pay. Whether your bills are due or not, it gives you the opportunity to regularly check your bills, and pay them before you forget and spend your money elsewhere.

Set up a payment calendar

Keeping a physical calender is a great way to remember when you have bills due. It's also a good excuse to get a fun calendar that brings you joy. Whether you like puppies, beaches or sexy firefighters, there's bound to be a calendar out there for you.

Final thoughts

If you're forgetful when it comes to bills, then it's important to find a system that works for you. Constantly paying your bills late will just stress you out and make it difficult to get on top of your finances. Set reminders or use automated payments to get those bills paid on time.
