How I Made An Extra $1,113.36 In August ‘23

Goodbye Winter and hello Spring! It’s been ice cold where I live and my heater’s been working overtime so I’m looking forward to thawing out and enjoying some warmer weather.

We had a busy month again with my eldest son celebrating his 4th birthday which was spent doing all the things he loved; watching trains, riding on trains, playing with trains and eating ice-cream. We definitely spent way too much on his birthday, but he’s got puppy dog eyes down to an exact science and I can’t exactly say no to him during his birthday month, can I? Well I probably can, but I’m terrible at adulting and now there’s a mountain of toys in our living room.

Thanks to the budget blowout over our son’s birthday, I had to use some of my side hustle money to fund our out of control spending. Not ideal, but at least it was an option.

In August, I was able to earn an extra $1,113.36 by using the following sites and apps.

Surveys $341.72

I’ve developed a nice little routine with my surveys. I have my go-to sites that I check daily and I aim to get $10 a day which usually takes me around 1.5 hours. Fortunately, it as an easy month for me with plenty of surveys to choose from.

The best survey sites for me this month were:

PureProfile

PureProfile was my favourite survey site again this month. This has been my go to site lately as they’ve had a lot of surveys available and they pay a consistent amount.

You can sign up to PureProfile here.

AttaPoll

AttaPoll had some decent surveys this month. It can be hit or miss but the survey list updates frequently so I check throughout the day for anything good.

You can sign up to AttaPoll here.

Octopus Group

Octopus Group was great again this month. I completed heaps of surveys through them this month and they pay the best out of all the survey sites I’ve been using.

You can sign up to Octopus Group here.

PurplePatch

PurplePatch was okay this month. I completed a few good surveys but there wasn’t a huge amount available. I always like to check this site as their surveys pay really well and often lead to market research opportunities.

You can sign up to PurplePatch here.

Swagbucks

I spent way too much time playing apps through Swagbucks again this month. It’s okay to spend hours playing games as long as I’m being paid for it, right?

You can sign up to Swagbucks here.

Cashback $127.38

The cashback apps I used in August were ShopBack and CashRewards.

I managed to score some great cashback deals during the Afterpay Day sales which gave me some money back on my son’s birthday presents as well as some cleaning products for the house.

You can sign up to ShopBack here and CashRewards here.

Savings Trackers $251.60

I had a big month selling savings trackers through my Etsy store and on my website. I spent a lot of time on custom orders and had some bulk orders come through as well.

Market Research $290.00

Market research is definitely one of my favourite side hustles. These include product testing, reviews, online diaries and mystery shopping. I really enjoy these because they pay really well and don’t usually take up too much time.

The market research invitations I received came from participating in surveys through AttaPoll and PurplePatch.

ReceiptJar $5.00

ReceiptJar is an app that allows you to scan your receipts for points that can then be redeemed for gift cards. I consistently scan all of my physical and digital receipts using the app and I’m now at a level where I get a nice amount of bonus points. It’s easy and quick to use so it’s certainly not a bad way to make a bit of extra money.

You can sign up to ReceiptJar here. Make sure to use the referral code MADISOC7 to receive 200 points when you scan your first receipt.

Blogging $97.66

I’ve been able to work on my blog a lot more this month which I love doing, it’s just a bonus that I’ve been able to earn a little cash from it.

Now that September is here, let’s face it, it’s pretty much Christmas time. Although I do set aside a bit of money each week for the holiday season I’d really like to save some extra so we can buy some awesome presents for our loved ones. This month I’m keeping up my goal of earning $1,000 from side hustles so stay tuned!
