12 Fun Things To Do For Mother’s Day
Mother's Day is the day to show the mother figures in your life how much you love and appreciate them, and what better way to do that than by spending quality time together. We’re all feeling the pinch with the rising cost of living, but there’s still plenty of affordable ways to show mum just how much you love her.
Here are some fun and inexpensive ways to celebrate your mum on Mother's Day.
Breakfast in bed
Start the day off right by giving mum breakfast in bed. Cook her favourite breakfast and make her favourite cup of coffee or tea, and she'll be feeling very spoilt.
Just make sure you don't wake her up too early! She deserves a sleep in.
Go through old photos
A fun way to spend time together is to reminisce and go through old photos together.
Laugh and share stories as you look back at all of Mum's favourite moments.
Pick flowers
One of the most common gifts for Mother's Day is flowers, however if you can't afford those incredible, professional arrangements, or you've just left it too late and now you can't get anything, then consider picking your own flowers for mum. If you don't have access to a garden, then you can go for a walk along a trail and pick up the flowers you see along the way.
Have a picnic
Having a picnic is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and spend quality time with your family. Pick a nice spot and bring some goodies for everyone to enjoy.
Travel somewhere new
Create a memorable Mother's Day by travelling somewhere. Whether it be a new town, a beach, a lake or a city, she will have a great day out exploring somewhere new.
Make a playlist
Create a playlist of all the songs that make you think of your mum and share it with her. This is a fun and thoughtful way to show mum just how much you love her.
Candlelit dinner
Set the mood right and enjoy a special dinner by candlelight. She'll be feeling the love with an intimate dinner, that she (hopefully) didn't have to make herself.
Game night
What better way to spend quality time as a family, than with a game night. Pull out those board games and have fun working together or competing against each other in various games. Maybe avoid Monopoly though... unless you're planning on letting mum win.
DIY high tea
If you can't take mum to a high tea, then bring the high tea to mum. Break out the fine China and enjoy tea with delectable treats.
Spa day
Spend the day pampering mum with a home spa day. You can draw her a bubble bath, give her a facial, paint her nails; whatever she likes. She'll be feeling very relaxed and very spoilt.
Bake treats
If your mum loves baked goods, then whip something up together on Mother's Day. You could bake a cake, muffins, brownies, cookies; the options are endless.
Movie night
What better way to end Mother's Day than with a movie night. Tear open the popcorn, snuggle up on the couch and turn on Mum's favourite movie.
